Anthony J. Sturdivant was born and raised on the west side of Chicago, Illinois. Anthony started his journey as a filmmaker in 2011 after writing and producing the first of his 7 installments to the short film series Think Before You Shoot. With this film series Anthony was able to win an award, become a TEDx Speaker, and start his own creative writing / media arts program offered to high school students. Most importantly Anthony was able to use his film series as a way to travel around the city of Chicago to speak and share his messages with high schools, communities and colleges.
In 2018, Anthony decided to relocate to Los Angeles, California in order to expand his journey in another major city. He has now started his own production company A. Sturdivant Productions. Anthony has completed the first film under his new production company entitled “Rayne Dayes; A Domestic Violence Story.”
Anthony specializes in all forms of creative writing. His abilities to visualize stories and deliver message through his writings has separated his content from most filmmakers. His goal is to use filmmmaking as a tool to magnify the issues faced as a population. Anthony’s aspirations are to inspire those from the inner city communities like the one he grew up in, faced with violence, drugs and the feeling of hopelessness caused by circumstances that seem too much to cope with.
